Archives for September, 2008

It’s officially fall. The leaves have turned and the mums are in full color.  It is chilly outside.  It is Soup Time! As the soup season is upon us, it is time for a nice bowl of comfort food.  I have created over 150 varieties of fresh homemade soup. You will not find most of these varieties anywhere else. Some of the fall favorites include, Apple Butternut Squash, Two Potato Leek, Southern Corn Chowder, and Mulligatawny made with fresh tart apples. The Apple Butternut Squash is requested everyday.  The Two Potato Leek is made with fresh potatoes, sweet potatoes, and leeks. If your in the mood for other choices like Chicken or Turkey Pot Pie, Chicken Lemon Rice, “For Real” Vegetable, Angelina’s Minestrone, Pauline’s Chicken Pastina™, or any on our list, just ask and we will make it for you.  From our list of over 125 varieties, we serve six choices at one time, rotating throughout the day.  On an average we serve 25 kinds a day. Call ahead to ensure your favorite is saved for the day, 586-566-7484.

After being asked to appear on Fox 2 News Cooking School, I could not decide what to make.  I decided to make a family tradition, Stracciatella.  It is Roman Italian Egg Drop Soup.  The egg breaks up into little shreds or torn egg, stracciato in Italian.  You can find the recipe at:  http://media.myfoxdetroit.com/cooking/cookingschool.html

I also brought my own creation of fall dessert, hot apple crunch sundae along with our own trademark Tornado® Shakes using Ashby ice cream of Shelby Twp, Michigan. We displayed our Pitas and Subs, and afterward we fed the staff.  If you missed it today, be sure to stay tuned for the weekday fox 2 news cooking school and the weekend news for future appearances.

Stacciatella is served at Maceri’s Soup & Scoop®, Pitas & Subs located at 21 Mile & Hayes in Shelby Township, Michigan on a regular basis. www.soup-scoop.com

There’s Milkshakes and there’s Tornado® Shakes. We Serve both.  A Tornado® Shake is an extraordianry thick shake you eat with a spoon! I have created over 50 flavors of Tornado® Shakes including Original, Real Fruit, Candy, and Tornado® Explosion.  In April 2008, Soup & Scoop® was voted “Best Milkshakes of Michigan” by the Detroit News.  They are like no other shakes around. There is a special way we create both of our shakes.  Customers say they have not had a shake like that in forty years!  For Fall we have the Pumpkin and Apple Crumb Cake Tornado®s.  For the holidays, starting this month you can also enjoy our Peppermint and Egg Nog Tornados.  Other holiday favorites and all year round are Mint Chip, Spumoni, Amaretto Cherry and Peppermint Mocha.
