I have created over 150 varieties of soup made from scratch. I learned the secrets to preparing satisfying meals from my grandma, who helped operate the family’s restaurant. Some of the favorites include Stracciatella, Chicken Lemon Rice, and “For Real” Vegetable, made with over 25 vegetables, which Anthony created at Tom Maceri’s Fruit Market which he owned and operated with Lori on Detroit’s east side.
Soup & Scoop® serves six varieties at a time rotating throughout the day. They have serves as many as 30 different kinds per day. Hurry in before your favorite for the day sells out.

Today is the ten year memorial of my mother-in-laws passing. I will always remember her pasta with escarole. The combination of olive oil, tomatoes, garlic, and escarole are mouth watering. She used to use long pasta. I have of course added my own ingredients. I also use a smaller soup pasta such as bowtie, ditalini, or small shells. The best part is the little chunks of italian cheese that don’t completly melt!

It is the middle of October, but in Shelby Township, Michigan it is going to be 80 degrees on Monday. It is still Ice Cream time! I have already peeled 150 pounds of apples for my homemade applesauce. It is just like apple pie without the crust. Not to worry, I have created my own special fall desserts. I started them last fall. Apple Crunch™ Sundae is the best. We use Ashbys Apple Crumb Cake or Vanilla Ice Cream topped with hot homemade applesauce, our own baked cinnamon pita chips, and whip cream. It is like upsidedown apple pie ala mode. My other fall special dessert is Pumpkin Crunch™ Sundae. It is Ashbys Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream topped with my cinnamon pita chips and whip cream.
