One of my desires is to feed the less fortunate on the street. Two friends of mine also would like to help. I love to feed people. It is always better to give than to receive. Being in the restaurant business allows me to feed people, but some cannot go to restaurants. So I would like to bring it to them.
We had a free lunch day in February where everyone that came in received a pita sandwich and a cup of soup. We will do this again.
Please pray for us as we seek out our vision.

Smoothies became available in the United States in the late 1960s when ice cream vendors and health food stores began selling them. By the 1990s and 2000s, smoothies became available at mainstream cafés and coffee shops, and in pre-bottled versions at supermarkets.

Shelby Township, Michigan / May 31, 2009– There’s fresh. And there’s really fresh. An eatery in Shelby Township has been serving up originality for 25 years.
Welcome to Maceri’s Soup & Scoop, where the soup is made fresh daily with produce from across the country around the world received from the family’s warehouse in Detroit’s Eastern Market. With 150 varieties of soups, that’s a lot produce. The “For Real Vegetable” soup alone uses 25 varieties of vegetables.
“Homemade soups made from the finest produce bring the best results,” says Lori Maceri, who owns the store along with her husband, Anthony, a produce industry veteran for over 40 years. Anthony learned the ropes from his dad, Sam Maceri, known as “King of Freshness” starting wholesale produce in 1936. Having this experience Anthony certainly knows how to pick the best produce. “That’s a critical job since so much of what we do depends on it,” says Lori. They began creating their soups and subs back in 1984 at Tom Maceri’s Fruit Market which they owned and operated on Detroit’s eastside.
Growing up living with her Italian grandma, who helped her mother, run the family restaurant, Lori learned the secrets of preparing meals made from scratch. She gave her the aspiration and knowledge to make that dream a reality.
Soup & Scoop® offers up to 40 flavors of National award-winning Ashby’s Sterling Ice Cream, which was also created in 1984.
Most people would never think of combining soups and ice cream into one eatery. But Lori says that’s part of what makes her restaurant unique. “Who would have thought a soup and ice cream shop would work,” says Lori. “But we’re proof that it does.”
Thanks to both of the family’s ties, customers are guaranteed the best products made with the finest produce available. Please join them for $.25 Scoops Saturday June 6 from 2pm to 6pm.
