Here it is the middle of winter, damp and cold, and lemons can give you a little bit of sunshine. Lemon is the perfect remedy to winter heaviness. During this season of colds and flu, you will appreciate the hefty dose of vitamin C that it delivers. Chills, fevers, and sore throats may be due to a variety of causes, never the less the lemon is always a helpful remedy. Here is a method that works well. The juice of one lemon is to be added to a cup of hot water with honey. My grandma Pauline used to give it to me when I was sick. It alway made me feel better. She called it hot lemonade.

As far back as I can remember, at the age of 6, I was baking. My grandma would make me roll the dough for her italian cookies. During the holidays she would get the dough ready during the day, and after school I would bake them. When I had nothing to do I would create and bake. Since then, I have dessert catered my cookies along with other finger desserts. Some of the favorite cookies include Italian cookies, chocolate chip, snickerdoodles, white chocolate raspberry, kiss cookies, and many more. During the holidays at Maceri’s Soup & Scoop you can get Italian cookies, chocolate chip, pumpkin chocolate chip, egg nog, chocolate mint, and white chocolate cranberry. These cookies are all orderable. Advanced notice is required. Our famous chocolate chip cookies make great ice cream sandwiches and sundaes topped with Sanders Hot Fudge and of course Ashbys Ice Cream. They also make great gifts.

Our pasta sauce was first served in my great grandmas restaurant located in Detroit, Michigan back in the 1940′s. After Mazzola’s Restaurant relocated to Tucson, Arizona, my grandma catered her pasta and meatballs to the Ford Plant in Detroit, Michigan. Now the tradition lives on. It can be purchased by the quart to take home. As a rotating variation to soup, we serve pasta with tomato sauce and also rotate alfredo sauce. It is available by the cup, bowl, pint, and quart. It is as authentic as it gets. The sauce is simmered all day to get the best flavor. It is cooked with a special blend of meat to get all of the savory juices. The meat is then taken out to produce a smooth meatless sauce. We also serve the best homemade meatballs offered on our catering menu.
