In 1984, President Ronald Regan declared July as National Ice Cream Month, with the third Sunday in July to be National Ice Cream Day. It is the same year Ashby’s was created. In celebration of summer and ice cream, on July 18 from 12pm-6pm, Maceri’s Soup & Scoop®, Pitas & Subs will be offering scoops of ice cream at vintage prices. Their small kiddie scoop, which is actually a double scoop, will be $.50. Also known as a “black cow” or “brown cow”, the root beer float is made with vanilla ice cream and root beer, a float made with root beer and chocolate ice cream is a chocolate cow or a “brown cow.”
Boston cooler
The Boston cooler was originated in Detroit, Michigan. It is made with Vernors and Vanilla ice cream. Unlike a float however, a Boston Cooler is blended like a thick milk shake.

Made with 7-Up or Sprite and vanilla ice cream.
Coke float
Made with Coca-cola and Vanilla ice cream.
Purple cow
Grape soda and vanilla ice cream.
Sherbet float
